ٖFederal Government Plans to Shut Down More Public Institutions
The federal government preparing proposals to shut down more government Institutions as part of its rightsizing measure.
The government is working on various proposals to reduce the expenditure of federal government,including closing institutions ,privatization and mergers, among other steps.
According to the sources, Ministry of Industries and Production has proposed shutting down the Karachi Tools, Dies and Molds Center and National Productivity Organization.Proposal have also been to close Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Center and the Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company.Both options of privatizing or abolishing the Utility Stores Corporation are under consideration.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also tasked the Ministry of Industries and Production to propose closing down the National Fertilizer Corporation and National Fertilizer Marketing Limited. All proposals will be presented to Prime Minister.Once approved then the federal cabinet will approve these proposals.
The Rightsizing Committee, chaired by the Finance Minister, is working on reforms in the government’s administrative structure with the aim of reducing the size of the bureaucracy.
