World Junior Squash Championship: Hamza Khan eliminated in quarterfinals

HOUSTON: Defending champion Hamza Khan was defeated by Korea’s Joo Ying-Na at the World Junior Squash Championship in Houston, United States on Monday.

The Korean player ultimately won in a closely contested battle that lasted 67 minutes. He secured a 2-3 win over Hamza Khan.

Despite initially trailing by two games, Hamza Khan leveled the match at 2-2. However, the Pakistan player found himself unable to counter the relentless assaults of Joo Ying-Na.

The Korean player sealed the victory with a scoreline of 9-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-3, and 5-11. This ended Hamza Khan’s title defense as Ying-Na advanced to the next stage.

The World Junior Squash Championship are biennial tournaments open to people aged 19 and below. It is organised by the World Squash Federation (WSF). The competition alternates between hosting junior men’s individual and team events in one year and junior women’s events in the following year.

Countries like Egypt, Australia, Pakistan, and England have dominated the team events for years, with multiple titles to their name. .
