Abdul Razzaq, former Pakistan all-rounder, humorously took a swipe at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following his removal from the selection committee.

Razzaq made it clear that the selection for the T20 World Cup was a joint decision by the seven-member selection committee.

Recently, Razzaq and Wahab Riaz were removed from their roles on the selection committee after Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup 2024.

The former all-rounder did not participate in the final of the World Championship of Legends, where India Champions defeated Pakistan Champions by five wickets at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham on Saturday.

Appearing as a panellist on a TV show before the final, Razzaq was questioned by former Pakistan pacer Sikander Bakht about whether the PCB had promised any support or prize money for defeating the India Champions.

“Tell us if the team has received any support or message from the PCB, something like ‘win the trophy, and we will award you 10,000 dollars?'” Bakht asked.

In response, Razzaq jokingly referenced his termination. “Letter aaya hai termination ka (received termination letter),” he said, highlighting his recent dismissal.

Razzaq also addressed accusations of favouritism in the selection process, emphasizing that team choices were made collectively. “How can I sway the other selectors while selecting the team?” he questioned, defending the integrity of the selection committee.
