Pakistan women’s cricket team captain, Nida Dar, expressed confidence ahead of their opening match against defending champions India in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup on July 19.
Speaking to Express News before departing for Sri Lanka, Dar emphasised the team’s strong combination and improved performance. Pakistan is placed in Pool A alongside Nepal and the United Arab Emirates.
Dar highlighted the significant improvements in fitness, batting, bowling, and fielding achieved during the training camp at Karachi’s National Stadium.
She noted that the use of advanced technology in training played a crucial role in enhancing the team’s skills. “We defeated India last year, and we are determined to achieve victory again,” she stated.
Dar praised the team’s readiness and the positive outcomes from the intensive training sessions. “Facing a strong team like India boosts our morale and confidence,” she added.
She stressed that no team would be taken lightly and that the squad would prepare thoroughly for each match. “T20 cricket is unpredictable, and any team can win on their day,” she remarked.
The captain also spoke highly of left-arm fast bowler Tasmia Wahab, describing her as a valuable addition to the squad. “Such bowlers are rare in Asia, and we plan to utilise her skills to our advantage,” Dar said.
