ISLAMABAD (APP) – The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a bearish trend on Monday, losing 1,141.50 points, a negative change of 1.46 percent, closing at 77,084.49 points against 78,225.98 points on the last working day.
A total of 501,191,841 shares were traded during the day as compared to 443,483,358 shares the previous day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs 21.057 billion against Rs 20.497 billion on the last trading day. As many as 442 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 129 of them recorded gains and 261 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 52 companies remained unchanged.
Rupee sheds 12 paisa against dollar
Pakistani rupee depreciated by 12 paisa against the US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs 278.62 against the previous day’s closing of Rs 278.50. The buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs 279.3 and Rs 280.4 respectively. The price of Euro increased by Rs 4.66 to close at Rs 305.48 against the last day’s closing of Rs 300.82, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The Japanese yen went up by 08 paisa and closed at Rs1.94, whereas an increase of Rs 2.84 was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British Pound, which traded at Rs356.96 as compared to the last day’s closing of Rs354.12. The exchange rates of the Emirates Dirham and the Saudi Riyal increased by 03 paisa and 02 paisa to close at Rs75.85 and Rs74.22 respectively.
Gold rates dip by Rs300 per tola to Rs256,500
The per tola price of 24-karat gold decreased by Rs300 and was sold at Rs256,500 compared to its sale at Rs256,800 on last trading day. The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold also decreased by Rs258 to Rs219,907 from Rs220,165 whereas the prices of 10 gram 22-karat gold went down to Rs201,582 from Rs201,817.
The price of per tola and 10 grams silver remained constant at Rs2,900 and 2,486.28 respectively. The price of gold in the international market decreased by US$16 to US$2,427 from US$ 2,443.
